Q. What is the difference between the three league divisions?
A. The Gold division is the most competitive Division. Most of the players are in their 60s and have played senior softball for a number of years. A number of more skilled players in their 70s also play in this Division. The play in our Silver Division is more in line with a recreational league. Players are generally in their late 60s or early to mid 70s. There is a mixture of players who have been playing for a number of years and newer players who have just started to play senior softball. The league started a Bronze Division for 2019. This Division is less competitive and provides many participants in their mid to late 70s or older, whose skills have diminished, with the opportunity to continue to play senior softball. There are several players in the Bronze division in their late eighties and early nineties.

Q. When does the selection of players take place for the Winter season?
A. Typically, the entry draft tryouts for the Winter season take place during the first full week of January. Registered draftees are notified by the league of exact dates and times. There is no tryout for the Bronze Division and players will be placed on a team using a paper draft.
Q. How are the players selected?
A. Team Managers observe the tryouts, make notes and rate the players based on the needs of their team. At the end of the tryouts,a draft is held with teams making selections in the reverse order of their finish in the standings the previous year. This procedure is followed for both the Gold and Silver Divisions.

A. This varies considerably from year to year. Some years more than 20 players are drafted in each division, other years fewer. In the event that there are more players undrafted such that an additional team can be established, he League works to make that happen. Any players not selected for either the Gold or SIlver division teams can will be placed on a Bronze Division team if they choose.

A. To play in the league, a player must be age 60 or older during the calendar year of the Winter season. Most players are cognizant of their skill level, and can determine which division best suits their level of play. Otherwise, attendance at practice sessions will give prospective players an idea about which division they may want to play in. None the less, a player trying out for the Winter - Gold that is not drafted can tryout for Silver. A a player trying out for the Winter - Silver that is not drafted can opt to play Bronze.
Q. What happens if a player is not drafted?
A. As stated above, players not selected in the Gold Division draft can then attend the Silver Division draft, typically held the next day. The league will communicate with any player not selected in the Gold Division draft to ensure that he understands that he can attend the Silver draft. Any player not selected in the Silver Division draft will be placed on a Bronze Division team subject to his confirmation that he wishes to play.

A: Players who indicate that they wish to play in any, or all, of these seasons are added to the list of interested players, and the teams are selected using a 'paper' draft approach. A. Any player who did not play in the Winter season league last the previous year and intends to try out for the Winter season draft(s) must complete a registration form including those players who's first experience in the league is the Spring, Summer or Fall seasons. Players moving from a current team, regardless of division, to a new team (or division) should also fill out the Registration form unless otherwise directed by the league registrar.
